Vienna Giant Ferris Wheel – Wiener Riesenrad

The Wiener Riesenrad, or the Vienna Giant Ferris Wheel, is one of Vienna, Austria’s most iconic landmarks.

After walking through the Schonbrunn Palace gardens, Zack and I went back to the underground to head to Prater amusement park, where the Vienna Giant Ferris Wheel is located. It offers panoramic views of Vienna’s skyline.

It’s on the opposite side of the city center, but the ride is short. Next on our hit list is to Giant Ferris Wheel at the Prater.

The Riesenrad was built in 1897 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Emperor Franz Joseph I. It has since become a historic symbol, surviving both World Wars and various changes in the city.
